Message from our Executive Director

Dear Community,

Since 2004, Ensaaf has worked to end impunity and advance justice for victims of crimes against humanity committed by India. As Co-Founder and Executive Director, I lead our efforts to document violations and pursue accountability, working alongside survivors who remain at the heart of our mission.

Ensaaf was founded to meet the urgent need for systematic documentation and advocacy in response to the atrocities in Punjab. Inspired by the courage and sacrifices of human rights defenders such as Jaswant Singh Khalra and Sukhwinder Singh Bhatti, we built upon their legacy to carry out one of the most extensive initiatives investigating gross human rights violations in India.

Over the past two decades, Ensaaf has documented thousands of cases of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial executions, and torture, restoring the names and stories of victims the state sought to erase. Each testimony we bring to light strengthens the evidence for accountability and erodes systemic impunity.

Whether you are already familiar with Ensaaf or learning about our work for the first time, thank you for your interest in the experiences of victims and their families. Your engagement and support help build a future where human dignity is protected and justice prevails.

In gratitude and solidarity,

Sukhman Singh Dhami
