Dasvandh Week: Double your Donation to Ensaaf
Donate to Ensaaf
Are you ready for the 5th annual DasvandhWeek? From November 10 to November 19, you can double your donation to Ensaaf through the Dasvandh Network. The Dasvandh Network (DVN) is a platform where donors and organizations can participate in the spirit of Dasvandh, the Sikh practice of contributing one-tenth of a person’s earnings to the common good of the community. DVN will match up to $500 from an individual donor, and up to $5,000 total per organization.
This year, Ensaaf is raising funds for its Oral History and Video Testimonial Project. As part of its goal to build a Virtual Site of Conscience (VSC), Ensaaf is creating a searchable, tagged video archive of 200 oral histories. The VSC--based on our documentation of over 12,000 villages in Punjab--will include an immersive sensory experience, data visualizations, documentary films and oral histories, a portrait gallery, an advocacy interface, a human rights archive, and a resource center. The VSC will establish the first virtual memorial dedicated to the victims and survivors of crimes against humanity in India.
You Can Help Fund Specific Projects
Imagine sending your son to school one day, only for the police to gun him down. On November 14, 1989, Charanjit Kaur’s 10-year-old son Gurjit Singh went to school, never to return home alive. The story of Charanjit Kaur is the story of many mothers in Punjab who saw their families destroyed during the Decade of Disappearances. You can help fund video testimonies on disappearances, unlawful killings, or the torture of family members of victims. With your support we can document the story of every mother who saw her child be disappeared, or unlawfully executed, by the State.
