Achieving the Unachievable: Double Your Impact
Sukhman and I launched Ensaaf over 10 years ago, after traveling in rural Punjab and meeting with families whose loved ones were “disappeared” by India’s security forces. Many of these survivors were single mothers, or aging parents, but they all wanted to know the fate of their family members.
It’s through these meetings we learned that families still had a deep desire for truth and justice, and were willing to press their cases if we would help them find a way.
Through Ensaaf, we pledged to document every disappearance and unlawful killing throughout Punjab, to build our record and the evidence to hold the perpetrators accountable.
Many told us that families would be too afraid to share their experiences, or we would never be able to get anything done in Punjab.
Since founding Ensaaf, we have reached significant milestones in advancing human rights in Punjab, and are now so very close to achieving what was once thought impossible.
Ensaaf has visited over 10,000 of Punjab’s 12,000 villages, documenting disappearances, unlawful killings, and torture.
With less than 2,000 villages to go, we need your continued support to conclude this stage of the largest ever initiative in the history of India to document gross human rights violations.
Help us reach this goal by donating today, so we can begin a new chapter of accountability.
If we raise $30K by August 13, 2015, a generous family will match that amount! This funding will ensure that we will reach the rest of the villages in Punjab by the end of this year.
