In Memory of Harjinder Singh and Others
As Surjeet Kaur recounts in this video about Harjinder Singh, “When he was taken into custody, [the police] took him to the canal. There they dragged him and shot him. The pain stays with you your entire life…. He was so good natured. What is written, comes to pass.” Please show your support by walking in memory of those who were disappeared or unlawfully killed.
The families we meet and interview are moved that their loved one is remembered and known outside of Punjab. We must act now and document every victim before this information is lost in history.
Register now for Appear for the Disappeared 2014 . The walk will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Lake Elizabeth, Central Park, Fremont, CA. Walk locally or walk virtually, and commemorate a specific individual who was disappeared or unlawfully killed in Punjab by Indian security forces during the Decade of Disappearances (1984-1995).
Each person who walks will receive a short bio of a victim of disappearance or unlawful killing. Supporters in Houston and New York City are organizing similar walks.
If you can't join us in Fremont, please register and walk in your area.
Help us reach our goal of commemorating 500 victims of disappearances or unlawful killings.
When you register, you can set a fundraising goal and create your own page to help raise funds to support our project to document every disappearance and unlawful killing in Punjab.
