Thank You Video Tribute & Special Appeal from Ensaaf

(California)

Dear Human Rights Defender,

This summer, Ensaaf interviewed over 1,000 individuals — including hundreds of survivors — to capture stories of disappearances, unlawful killings, and torture in Amritsar during the Punjab counterinsurgency.

This ambitious achievement, which represents the largest deployment of human rights investigators in Punjab in over a decade, was only realized due to the financial support we received from supporters like you. As a small token of our thanks, we created a short video tribute to show our immense gratitude for the generosity and trust given to us by our donors:

This summer's findings proved we are onto something big. We have the opportunity to establish the first independent estimate of disappearances and killings during the Punjab conflict. We are going up against the world's second-largest country, which will be sure to make every possible effort to avoid redressing its history of gross human rights violations. Capturing a complete account of the violence is paramount to bringing key perpetrators to justice, so every survivor voice counts.

We have the opportunity to establish the first independent estimate of disappearances and killings during the Punjab conflict. We are going up against the world's second-largest country.

Will you consider helping us sustain our mission with a special holiday donation? $25 has the power to document the story of one survivor who lost a loved one in a "disappearance" or extrajudicial killing in Punjab. How many survivors can you help give voice to?

If it wasn't for faithful supporters like you, we could not have gotten this far. Likewise, without your continued support, we won't be able to reach survivor families in the rural villages of Punjab who are still waiting to be heard.

Sincerely,
The Ensaaf Team

P.S. More survivors die each day who could otherwise provide key evidence against the perpetrators. Please help us return to Punjab as soon as possible by sending in your gift today.
